Eastern helped celebrate one of America's classic pastimes this weekend - and it wasn't baseball.

The Illinois High School Association hosted the women's badminton State Tournament in Lantz Arena on Friday and Saturday.

Preliminary matches were held Friday, and finals concluded Saturday.

Kelly Packard will be Ball State University's 10th head coach in the 34-year history of the women's basketball, athletics director Tom Collins announced Monday afternoon.

Packard, a four-year letter winner and 1990 graduate of Anderson University, replaces former head coach Tracy Roller, who has been absent from the team since late December.

III Tennis Championship tournament Sunday, despite the momentum from the teams' Saturday successes.
